Utter the words Wyatt Acres anywhere in Lawton and residents will make an immediate connection. The neighborhood on the city’s west side is known for the quality of its inventory and homes of at least about 2,000 square feet. "Wyatt Acres is an incredibly high-demand neighborhood in Lawton," says Heaven Speirs, a local Realtor with Park Jones Realty and a Lawton native. "It is a prestigious area with a lovely mix of home styles. The average price here is higher than it is in surrounding neighborhoods, but most of the homes sit on large lots with ample square footage."
Houses here cut an imposing figure
The oldest homes in Wyatt Acres date back to the 1960s, and the newest were built within the decade. And while the architectural styles in the neighborhood evolved over time from ranch-styles to colonial and now new traditional they all have expansive floor plans. The area’s average square footage is almost 2,400, significantly more than the citywide average, and homes here top out at more than 4,000 square feet. With bigger homes come sizable lots with most addresses resting on over a quarter of an acre. Some properties have water views courtesy of Wyatt Lake. Price tags range between $200,000 and $600,000 based on age, square footage and condition. "Many buyers will wait specifically to buy in Wyatt Acres, and the properties that do come available don't typically stay on the market very long," Speirs says.

Find an extracurricular opportunity at the Eisenhower schools
Wyatt Acres is part of Lawton Public Schools, which earns a B on Niche. Woodland Hills Elementary gets a B, and offers extended care before and after school. Eisenhower Middle School scores a B-plus, and students can participate in activities like an Oklahoma Association for Academic Competition academic team and a military child club, because of the school’s proximity to Fort Sill 4 miles away. Students at the B-rated Eisenhower High can join a JROTC program.

Neighborhood park offers expansive spot for recreation
Sidewalks line many of Wyatt Acres’ streets, connecting neighbors to each other and making it easier for people to get to the sizable Willow Creek Park. The space offers a playground, plus plenty of open field space dotted with soccer goals and a backstop for baseball or softball. The Lawton Country Club, a membership only club, has an 18-hole golf course, two tennis courts, a pool and a gym.

Catch a bite to eat and more on Cache
Cache Road, one of Lawton’s most prominent thoroughfares, is lined with restaurants and an assortment of other businesses. “Probably the best restaurant we have in town, that I think of, would be either Los Tres Amigos, as far as a Mexican restaurant, and Milano’s, an Italian restaurant,” says Eddie O’Keeffe, owner of O'Keeffe's Package Store, a beer, wine and spirits store in the area. One of Los Tres Amigos’ two Lawton locations is on Cache, just over a mile from Wyatt Acres, and Milano’s is just off Cache on Sheridan Road. Los Tres Amigos is known for its margaritas, available either standard or frozen, while Milano’s is known for its chicken alfredo. Wyatt Acres residents can also swing by No Name Pizza on the way home, a spot right outside the neighborhood. Oklahoma-based grocer Homeland is a mile away, while the Lawton Marketplace on 82nd Street has big-box retailers Target, Old Navy and T.J. Maxx.

Cache can make commutes easier
The Lawton Area Transit, a five route bus system has numerous stops on Cache Road. The roadway connects Wyatt Acres to the rest of Lawton, and is how commuters get to Interstate 44, 6 miles away.
Arts for All draws people from all over
Lawton hosts a range of community events annually, but one of the biggest is the Arts for All Festival in May at Shepler Square Park, 6 miles east of Wyatt Acres. This free event takes place over three days and pulls in artisans from not just Oklahoma but also some surrounding states. Shepler Square Park borders the site of the Lawton Farmers Market, which is open on Saturdays around the year and also on Tuesdays from May to September, with fresh produce, crafts and more.
