Round Mountain Oaks offers rural living outside Leander
West of Leander, the city’s flat grid pattern suddenly gives way to country roads that flow over the rise and fall of the Texas Hill Country. Round Mountain Oaks is one of the rural neighborhoods in this area, where wide-open space is the primary draw. “People like that it’s farther out, like if they want to be off the grid a little bit,” says Ellen Steele, a Realtor and the owner of Steele Portfolio. “Or if you have to go back and forth between Dallas a lot, leaving from Leander would cut your travel time considerably,” adds Steele, who’s lived in the Austin area for the last decade. While Round Mountain Oaks offers acreage and privacy, it’s only roughly 7 miles outside Leander, putting retailers, restaurants, city parks and highly rated public schools within reach. The neighborhood also has a low crime risk, according to the CAP Index, which gives Round Mountain Oaks a crime score of 1 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.
