The subdivisions of Orange
Rows of evergreen trees and dotted ponds can be seen from the main roads leading to the residential streets of several subdivisions while driving through Orange. Within each are established sidewalks where residents go for morning walks leading to cul-de-sacs, which can be found within most. Modern Craftsman-style homes are found sitting atop front yards spacious enough for modest landscaping, which can line driveways big enough for two vehicles. Older ranch-style and Foursquare homes, some of which were built in the early 1900s, are found along Lewis Center Road, where pricing can start at $210,000 for a three-bedroom home. Newer homes built in the late 1990s and onward tend to cost more, topping at $1.1 million for a five-bedroom house, with amenities like Homeowners Associations to pair. “The developers of these new subdivisions are placing a lot of emphasis on walkability and comfort,” explains Kelsie Stites, director of sales and marketing for The Steele Group, who grew up in the area.Summer days at Alum Creek State Park Beach
Fun outside can be had at North Orange Park, where visitors can take advantage of the large playground and walking trails, as well as a pool and aquatic park for residents of the Orange Township community. Sitting in the northeast portion of the neighborhood is Alum Creek State Park Beach, which sits along Alum Creek Lake. The park guests can take a dip in the lake, purchase lunch from one of the occasional food trucks or go boating offshore. Despite being busy on summer weekends and holidays, the park provides more than enough parking.College prep at Olentangy Orange High School
The Olentangy Local School District is rapidly growing and is home to many highly rated schools in the area. Young minds can begin their journey at Alum Creek Elementary, which has received an A-plus score from Niche. Located nearby is Olentangy Orange Middle School, which has earned an A from Niche and hosts Schoology, an online education program allowing students to access education digitally. Older students can attend Olentangy Orange High School, which Niche has ranked as the No. 13 best College Prep Public High School compared to 788 other schools in Ohio. The home of the Pioneers has also received an A grade from Niche.Christmas cheer at North Orange Park
“Each subdivision in the area is working hard to have its own events for their specific events for its residents,” says Stites. However, there are a handful of events for the whole neighborhood to enjoy, like the Holiday Event at North Orange Park. To ring in the holiday season, the event hosts Santa and Mrs. Claus, Olentangy Teacher Choir and uses the opportunity to collect donated toys for Delaware People in Need. The community also hosts an Independence Day Parade that runs down Orange Road.Commuting from Orange
Residents will need a car to get to nearby daily amenities and attractions. Those commuting to Columbus for school, work or fun can reach the downtown via a 15.1-mile drive along I-75 South, which can be accessed quickly from the community. The John Glenn International Airport is also nearby for convenient travel and is a short 16.3-mile drive along I-270 East.Arepas and Avocado toast at Mordisco's
Catching up with friends over a morning coffee can be done at Roosevelt Coffeehouse at Olentangy River Brewing House along Green Meadows Drive South. A meal that can be had right next door is Mordisco, a Latin American restaurant best known for its arepas and avocado toast. Grocery shopping can be done at the local Meijer and retail at Polaris Fashion Place, just a mile south of the neighborhood.Increasing demand in Orange
As Columbus continues to expand, the market in surrounding areas, including Orange, may become more competitive, which potential homebuyers should keep in mind.
