When one thinks of Gainesway, one thinks of convenience. After making a left on Tates Creek Road, residents are just minutes from New Circle Road, the gateway to the best of Lexington. Residents are less than 10 minutes from the University of Kentucky and downtown Lexington. Mid-20th century ranch styles, split-levels and colonials
Most homes within Gainesway were built in the mid-20th century, with most residents living in ranch-style, split-level and colonial houses. Being an established neighborhood is part of its appeal. These homes have sold for between $230,000 and $420,000. “Gainesway is an older subdivision,” Johnson says. “This means you have mature trees, bigger yards, with more space between lots that you wouldn’t find with newer developments.” Townhouses are also available in the neighborhood and have sold in the mid $200,000s. Sidewalks line most neighborhood streets in Gainesway, but residents still utilize their cars to get around. As for crime, the CAP Index gave Gainesway a 6 out of 10 Crime Score, higher than the national average.

Students attend Fayette County Public Schools
Students living in Gainesway attend Fayette County Public Schools. As a part of that district, children would attend Tates Creek Elementary for Pre-K through fifth grade and Tates Creek Middle School for sixth through eighth grade. Both schools earned a B grade from Niche. In ninth grade, students would attend Tates Creek High, which received a B-minus grade from Niche. At Tates Creek High, students can participate in the Academies of Lexington program. Interests include business and education, design and engineering, information technology and medical services. As for private schools, Trinity Christian Academy is nearby and earned an A grade from Niche. The University of Kentucky is just 4 miles north of the neighborhood if residents want to stay close to home for college.
Tates Creek High School offers students extra curricular activities, such as Band and Game Club.
The student population of Tates Creek Middle School is 737 and the school serves 6-8.

Plethora of parks to play in
There are a few notable parks that residents have quick access to near the neighborhood. Gainesway Park gives residents exposure to a bit of Lexington's wildlife. Visitors will see a pond as they walk across the footbridge and look below. Native plants beautify the pond, with butterflies and bees fluttering and buzzing around them. Fish, turtles, ducks and frogs live in the pond. Residents can fish in the pond and will mostly find bass fish and bluegills. In addition to the pond, the park features basketball courts, a walking trail and sports fields. Kirklevington Park features the only pickleball court complex in Lexington. Along with pickleball, park patrons can use the baseball and soccer fields and the basketball and tennis courts. The park also has a skatepark friendly to skaters of all levels. Residents looking to achieve their daily goal of steps can take advantage of the 1.4-mile trail at Lansdowne-Merrick Park.

There are a few notable restaurants within a few minutes of Gainesway. The Merrick Inn is a Lexington staple, only a few minutes from the neighborhood. For dinner, customers enjoy ordering the Southern Fried Chicken, which comes with a choice of hand-breaded white or dark meat. For brunch, some order the hearty Lansdowne Breakfast with two eggs, a choice of sausage, a toasted English muffin and breakfast potatoes. Malone's is known for their premium steak. Customers can order the filet mignon or one of their twin filets for dinner. Residents in Gainesway can use the Lextran bus system from the Tates Creek at Gainesway stop along Tates Creek Road. Blue Grass Airport is a 9-mile drive from the neighborhood for locals looking to get out of town. For medical attention, Baptist Health Lexington is a 4-mile drive.
