Where the past and present thrive
East Vincent Township is located along the Schuylkill River in Pennsylvania’s Chester County. “East Vincent’s central location is one of its best features,” says Mallory Chuck, a Realtor with Keller Wiliams Realty Group. “It is close to US 422 and downtown Phoenixville. It has a rural appeal, but there is also a residential feel to the area.” This land of green rolling hills and valleys has seen a wave of development in recent years, but much of it remains in farmland, and it still retains a small-town appeal. East Vincent, first settled in 1733, is the sort of place with an appreciation for both the present and the past. It’s a place that maintains a small cemetery with the graves of 22 unknown Revolutionary War soldiers and holds an annual ceremony to honor their service. It is home to two historic covered bridges, the 155-year-old Sheeder-Hall Bridge, and the Kennedy Bridge, which was destroyed by fire in 1986 but an exact replica was rebuilt soon after.
East Vincent is a community in Chester County of approximately 7,000 residents.
The Sheeder-Hall bridge in East Vincent, built in 1850, spans the beautiful French Creek.

Old farmhouses and new developments
At the eastern edge of the township, on the outskirts of Spring City, one also finds townhouses and twins. Go west a bit, and along the township’s winding roads are acres of pastureland, wooded areas and crops. Here, stone farmhouses, some more than 200 years old, still grace the land. But there are also many newer developments along these country lanes, with larger homes such as modern Colonials, Craftsman and custom-builds. Home prices in the area vary from about $225,000 to $1.2 million.

Hiking trails and haunted asylums
East Vincent’s 20-acre Community Park on the Ridge is open during daylight hours. The green space provides volleyball, basketball and tennis courts and sports fields in addition to ornamental gardens, exercise stations and two loop trails. Realtor Chuck says residents who enjoy hiking and bike riding can pick up the Schuylkill River Trail in East Vincent and take the multi-use path to nearby Phoenixville. The 120-mile trail travels throughout much of southeastern Pennsylvania and passes through rural, suburban, agricultural and urban areas. Pennhurst Asylum was once a state school for mentally challenged children. It was closed in 1987 after years of overcrowding and controversial treatments. Today, the reportedly haunted facility is home to both the Pennhurst Museum, which offers educational tours of the school and the Pennhurst Haunted Asylum, which features popular spine-tingling tours that involve a fictional story of inmates conspiring to grab control of the asylum from the staff.

For dinner out, Bella Trattoria is an Italian eatery that opened in 2021. The restaurant serves local interpretations of classic Italian dishes.
