Midsize midcentury homes and townhouses welcome small house seekers

Tucked between the larger neighborhoods of Belmont to the west and Sunset Acres to the east, the 400-home community of Landons, differentiates itself with "perhaps what buyers can’t see right away,” said Realtor Lauren Bayne, a native Lincolnite and a real estate agent with Nebraska Realty for nearly 10 years. Bayne explains that first-time buyers and young retirees are often drawn to homes that aren’t old or brand new, something on which Landons can deliver. “They’re both at a point in life where they don’t want to take on major DIY projects or pay top dollar for a brand-new home they may sell down the road.”

At the same time, she continues, “Buyers tend to enjoy living in Landons because it has just enough of what people need and want nearby, but it’s not crowded or overdeveloped.” Another benefit for buyers here, especially for those still in the workforce, is the neighborhood’s location close to several large industrial employers, including Lincoln Industries, Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corporation and Molex, Inc.

Lincoln city parks reflect significant investment and recent updates

While there are no parks within the boundaries of Landons, two city parks are located in the Belmont neighborhood, immediately west of Landons. Max E. Roper Park East is 2 miles west along North 7th Street and is the largest park in Belmont. Jamie Granquist, Parks & Recs Office Specialist, says, “The disc golf course here is one of the most popular attractions. It’s pretty new and designed as a linear course, meaning fewer holes share the same basket. That makes the game faster and more enjoyable.” Granquist says that the bike trail that winds through wooded waterways is another popular feature of the park. “Families enjoy this trail. It’s used every day. The only time I don’t see cyclists is when it’s raining or snowing.”

Belmont Park, 1.5 miles west of Landons, has an outdoor swimming pool, sports fields, a playground and covered picnic shelters. Local Little League teams practice on their fields. Stir-crazy kids enjoy the prehistoric scenery at Prehistoric Putt at Cornhusker Highway and North 20th Street.
