New park amenities in town
The town invests in green spaces for its residents. Within the past five years, it added new amenities to the community park, located on the foundation of an old school. The park has a covered patio with benches, a basketball court with two nets and a little free library. Camping is a popular weekend activity. The area is dotted by farmhouse architecture from around 1900, with distinctive white wood paneling and the occasional wrap-around porch. Saltbox, Colonial, log cabins and ranch houses are also found throughout the area. Properties range in size from half an acre to over two acres. Long driveways create some separation from the street. With the added land, some include outbuildings like barns and storage sheds. Operating from breakfast to dinner, it offers inside seating and flavorful bites like arroz con pollo and carne asada. On the south side of Lafayette, Legacy Pub is a casual spot to catch the Purdue game with a beer and a barbecue pork sandwich. Walmart Supercenter is also on Lafayette's south side, with a full selection of groceries.
