Pink silos of Malley's Chocolate, a famous landmark of Bellaire-Puritas

Bellaire-Puritas, located on the West Side of Cleveland, Ohio, is a neighborhood rich in history and community spirit. Once farmlands and greenhouses in the 19th century, it transformed into a suburban hub in the early 1900s. Today, Bellaire-Puritas is known for its walkability, vibrant green spaces, and close-knit community vibe. A landmark of the neighborhood, the three colossal pink silos of Malley's Chocolates, marked with "Cocoa," "Milk," and "Sugar," are visible from Interstate 480. People choose to live there for its affordable housing and accessibility to amenities. Realtor Anne Callahan of Keller Williams Citywide says that the neighborhood offers a "lower price point to get in real close to a lot of amenities and is near mass transportation."

Home prices are affordable for first-time buyers and investors

In Bellaire-Puritas, houses tightly pack the streets, featuring a mix of Craftsman homes with large front porches, brick Cape Cods, and Ranch-style homes. Many residences have neatly landscaped front yards and driveways, and some even have garages in the backyard. The neighborhood offers a range of housing prices to suit various budgets. Colonial-style homes start at $115,000, with some reaching up to $301,000. Cape Cod homes are available from $119,000, with more upscale options going for as much as $229,000. Bungalows can be found starting at $52,500 for fixer-uppers up to $125,000. Ranch homes range from $72,500 to $190,000. Multi-family homes typically cost around $212,000. The median home price in the area is $130,250. "There are a lot of first-time buyers and younger families, but also a lot of investors. The draw is that it's close to some of the new and existing manufacturing jobs and employers as well as Amazon," Callahan says. In April it was announced that an affordable housing complex for seniors, Puritas Senior Apartments, will be built in the Bellaire-Puritas neighborhood with 48 income-based
units for individuals 55 and older. The neighborhood has a CAP Crime Score of five, just one point higher than the national average.
