Natural feel and country comforts, with Rogers and Bentonville nearby

Not to be confused with the state capital, Little Rock, Little Flock is a small city in Arkansas that flies under the radar. But its residents seem to like it that way. "It's Northwest Arkansas' best-kept secret," says Jeff Van Sickler, the mayor of Little Flock. "It's about the only place in this rapidly growing area that is remaining rural. That's been the draw for residents over time." Situated between the larger cities of Rogers and Bentonville and just 30 miles north of Fayetteville, Little Flock is a small city of 3,000 people. While residents enjoy their countryside living, they have convenient access to the attractions and amenities of the surrounding cities.

Roomy rural lots for homes of all styles

Homes in Little Flock tend to be farmhouses and ranch-style houses. They often have spacious front porches and yards covered in mature shade trees. There are newer construction homes with brick or siding on the exterior and built-in garages. Modern contemporary homes with large windows and straight edges also exist in the community. The city requires that all parcels be a minimum of 1 acre, helping to preserve the area's rural feel. Because of this, houses are often spread out, but there are some areas where homebuyers can be closer to their neighbors. Homebuyers can find a three-bedroom ranch-style house for $200,000 to $400,000. A four-bedroom home or a property with more acreage can cost $600,000 to $800,000. Five-bedroom homes and modern upscale houses are in the $1 million to $2 million range.

The park also has a playground and swing set. There are also several parks in the nearby cities that residents can access. "There's plenty of things in the area to choose from. We're really close to Bentonville and Rogers attractions. There's golf courses out here. Lost Springs Golf Course is within the city limits," Sickler says. Just 3.5 miles west in Bentonville, residents can enjoy spending time at Memorial Park. This expansive green space has several baseball and softball fields, soccer fields and tennis courts. The park also has four basketball courts, all painted with colorful designs. Visitors can walk or run on the Memorial Park Fitness Trail, which surrounds the park and connects to nearby Orchards Park, a serene, passive park with landscaped areas and walking trails. Residents can head 10 miles up Highway 62 to visit Pea Ridge National Military Park, a Civil War battlefield with self-guided tours, hiking and biking trails. Golf lovers will enjoy teeing off at Lost Springs Golf & Athletic Club, a par-72 course with a pro shop, fitness facilities and dining area.
