A home in Hillsborough doesn’t just come with a sought-after West Little Rock residency; it also includes a close-knit community. “The neighborhood is very well-established with both longtime residents and newer families,” says Debbie Teague, a sales associate with The Janet Jones Company. “You see lots of people out on their driveways or porches visiting with other neighbors.” This friendly atmosphere can also be accredited to its numerous resident-only amenities and the highly rated schools within walking distance.

There are a variety of stunning 1960s estates with four to five bedrooms and half-acre lots at the heart of Hillsborough. Find sprawling Cape Cods with wide front porches, side-gabled Georgian Revivals and a few contemporary dwellings with massive picture windows. French-inspired New Traditional homes built throughout the 1990s are also common. To live in Hillsborough, expect to pay anywhere between $400,000 and $700,000, a range higher than a Little Rock home’s average $150,000 selling price. You’ll also have to act fast to buy here. “Homes sell in a matter of a few days. People who want to move here have to be diligent when it comes to seeing what’s on the market,” says Teague.

Residents can enjoy several exclusive recreational hubs, like the playground and swing set along Wellington Village Road. Head to Carriage Creek Park to walk the short, paved path or practice your serve on the tennis courts. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the lifeguard-protected Hillsborough Pool is open. The 9-foot-deep saltwater pool has a plastic slide and a diving board perfect for a day of summer fun. Find more activity mere minutes away at Pleasant Valley Country Club. Members can use the 27-hole championship golf course, 12 tennis courts, the Olympic-sized swimming pool and the state-of-the-art fitness center.

Children in Hillsborough attend Fulbright Elementary, where they can create masterpieces in the art studio. It has different stations for painting, collaging, 3D printing and pottery making. After fifth grade, students go to Pinnacle View Middle, and they can experience school spirit events like the annual pink-out girls’ volleyball game for breast cancer awareness. Lastly, students attend Little Rock Central High, which has an A grade on Niche. The school’s 1927 Art Deco-style building is often deemed one of the most beautiful schools in America. Besides a stunning setting, the school has a rigorous curriculum offering 36 AP courses on subjects like economics and five foreign languages, including Mandarin Chinese.

The neighborhood is also home to Pulaski Academy, which has an A-plus grade from Niche. While the school serves prekindergarten through 12th grade, high school students benefit from extensive college counseling. Juniors go on an 11-day, class-wide trip to visit colleges, 120 schools attend the annual college fair and the school boasts a 100% college acceptance rate.

Hillsborough is sandwiched between two major thoroughfares. Rodney Parham Road is one, and it's dotted with several locally owned eateries. Pop into The Pantry to devour German classics like handmade bratwursts topped with sauerkraut and Czech staples like roast beef with traditional bread dumplings. Enjoy a brew and chicken wings smothered in the signature hot sauce at Grumpy’s Too for a more casual atmosphere. Grab groceries about 4 miles away at the Kroger or Costco along Chenal Parkway. The street is also home to the Promenade at Chenal, an outdoor shopping center with stores like Sephora, Apple and Bath & Body Works.

With cordial character amplified by a convenient location, Hillsborough epitomizes West Little Rock living.

We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
