River Mountain is a top-ranked Little Rock neighborhood

River Mountain is ranked as the No. 1 neighborhood in Little Rock to purchase a home by Niche. And with good reason. The picturesque community is surrounded by rolling hills, rivers and miles of trails to explore. In addition, residents here enjoy proximity to shopping and downtown Little Rock. “It’s conveniently located and a close-knit community, so people become family with their neighbors and never want to leave,” says Tamra McMahon, an executive broker with RE/MAX Elite Conway Branch, who’s been selling homes in the area for 5 years.

Conner Park, on Cantrell Road, has about thirty acres to explore, including a fishing pond and playground. And just 6 miles northeast, there’s the sweeping Pinnacle Mountain State Park. The 2,300-acre park on Pinnacle Valley Road hosts 22 miles of trails and is best known for its namesake landmark, Pinnacle Mountain, which boasts river and downtown Little Rock views from its summit.

The neighborhood features a variety of housing styles, including ranch homes, split-levels and contemporary homes with two-car garages. “Most houses are older but many of them have been well maintained or upgraded,” McMahon says.

Properties typically rest along wide, sidewalk-free streets and offer spacious grassy lots adorned by mature trees. The average sale price hovers around $400,000. A 1,500-square-foot home with 3 bedrooms could be found for $250,000, while a four-bedroom, with 5,500 square feet of living space might fetch more than $1 million.
