William Kirsch Preserve, located within Ranch North Woods, has more than 3 miles of trails and contains nearly two miles of the Little Maumelle River. The area is overseen by The Nature Conservancy. Caleb Pierce, a land steward with The Nature Conservancy, says most people use the preserve as a quiet place to walk and look at wildlife, which can include deer, foxes and bald eagles. Pierce says kayaks are also offered free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Pinnacle Mountain State Park, just north of the community, offers 14 miles of challenging bike trails or a hike to the mountain’s apex, which is more than 1,000 feet high.
