A residential escape close to Port Jefferson

Tucked away in the middle of Long Island lies Terryville, a residential area with highly rated schools, convenient parks and quick access to Port Jefferson station. “Terryville is a very quiet area in the Port Jeff area. The homes are more established,” says Lesley Longmcleod, an associate broker at Signature Premier Properties who has over eight years of experience. “You can’t say there’s no shopping in town because downtown Port Jefferson is right there.”

Easy commutes with Port Jefferson station nearby

Less than 3 miles away, Port Jefferson station gives commuters a direct path to central New York along the Long Island Rail Road. "That's a huge perk," says Todd Yovino, broker and owner of Island Advantage Realty, "and can take a significant amount of time off your daily commute." The Nesconset-Port Jefferson Highway takes medical staff 3 miles to Mather Hospital and 6 miles to Stony Brook University Hospital. Homeowners who live close to Terryville Road can hop on a Suffolk Country Transit Bus, while most rely on their cars to get around town.

New Colonial Revivals and established ranch-style homes

Brand-new Colonial Revivals in Terryville often sell for $750,000 to almost $1 million. Most Colonial Revivals and split-level homes with four bedrooms, large yards and attached garages were built in the 1970s or 2000s. They range from $500,000 to $985,000. While most homeowners park on their paved driveways or in their garages, drivers have an easy time moving around cars parked on the wide streets. “My clients moved there because they liked the size of the property and the size of the home. They also liked the library system and schools there,” Longmcleod says. “They moved in after Halloween and have met quite a few of their neighbors already.”

There are not many vacant properties in this area and almost all of the professional buildings are full. The houses are of varying size, but all are decent size and well maintained.

There are a few parks near me that are very nice, but there are not many wildlife or environmental conservatories nearby and I would like to see more.

There is not much diversity as far as restaurants go. There are the typical chains and a few family owned establishments.
