A centrally located suburban neighborhood
Sitting roughly 3 miles from downtown Longmont, Garden Acres is a residential neighborhood conveniently close to Main Street’s retail corridor in the east and with expansive open lands in the north. “The things that you need every day are fairly close if you want to walk to Main Street, and people will get out with their kids and dogs to take advantage of the neighborhood park,” says Regan Sample, broker associate and team lead with eXp Realty. Sidewalks make it easy to navigate the area on foot, while Colorado State Highway 66 and Main Street connect Garden Acres to the rest of the city.

Shops and restaurants on Main and 17th
The neighborhood’s proximity to the Main Street commercial corridor creates ample opportunity for shopping and dining. Horizon Park Center is a shopping plaza with national retailers like Big Lots, Dollar Tree and Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply. Restaurants in the area include Pistachio Cafe Bakery, with its coffee and pastries, and Rosa Cantina with its traditional Mexican dishes. Aunt Alice’s Kitchen is an old-fashioned diner specializing in American breakfast. Grocery stores along Main Street include King Soopers and Natural Grocers.
At the intersection of 17th Avenue and Hover Street, in the southwest corner of the neighborhood, there are more retail and restaurant options. Mama Roni’s Pizza serves casual Italian. Danny’s Tacos, just west of Hover, is a neighborhood-favorite food truck. Fast food options include Jimmy John’s and Ziggi’s Coffee. The Centennial Square shopping mall across the street has a Safeway.

City parks and sports facilities
While most of Garden Acres is residential, its namesake park has a softball four-plex, batting cages, a cricket pitch, playgrounds and multi-use fields. “Really competitive teams will play there, and they host a lot of tournaments," Sample says. "This one year, I was walking with my kids there, and we saw license plates from just about every state but Alaska.” The Oligarchy Ditch Primary Greenway cuts through the park for walkers and bikers. Park visitors are greeted by a bronze statue of children playing. “When it snows, you’ll see a lot of kids coming out to sled on the cricket pitch,” Sample says. “We’ve probably been sledding out there with the kids a hundred times.”
The smaller Carr Park, just down the street from Garden Acres Park offers a roller hockey rink and courts for basketball and tennis courts. Sandwiched between the two parks is the City of Longmont’s Dog Park No. 1, where dogs can play off-leash.
