Private lake community surrounded by farmland
Situated on the outskirts of northern Longmont, Terry Lake is a neighborhood of rolling farmland with residential pockets, named after the body of water of the same name directly north. “It’s a very exclusive, private lake, with only a handful of homes around there,” says Real Estate Broker Joe Bennell with The Colorado Group, who has 20 years of experience. The semi-rural community enjoys quiet evenings yet is close enough to Main Street and downtown for shopping.

Private and public recreation
The man-made Terry Lake was established in the 1890s, and access is restricted to homeowners who own the land. "There are surface water rights for the homeowners who live there, and some of them have boats with slips for access,” Bennell says. Members of Terry Lake go kayaking, sailing and fishing for trout. There are walking trails surrounding the water that travel through the area’s cottonwood trees and are prime for wildlife watching. When the water levels are low, there’s a sandy beach for members.
The nearby City of Longmont’s Garden Acres Park is less than 2 miles south of the neighborhood. The park has batting cages, a softball four-plex, playgrounds and walking trails. Roughly 3 miles west of the neighborhood, McIntosh Lake is a public area, with fishing and boat ramps for non-motorized water recreation. Swimming is not allowed, but there’s a pirate-themed playground on the lakeshore.
