Peace and quiet on the western side of Longview
Right across the Oregon border sits Longview, Washington – a former lumber town that’s attracting the attention of folks looking for a peaceful place to live. “A lot of people are moving from the Portland metro area out to Longview,” says Nick Shivers, Principal Broker at Keller Williams Realty East Portland with over 25 years of experience. “The Longview area has seen 4.2% growth, compared Portland’s growth, which has been flat to negative.” People set their sights on Longview because “it’s more affordable, for safety, the taxes and people like the area,” Shivers says. On the western side of Longview is Memorial Park; this neighborhood is on the quiet outskirts of town, yet still has easy access to area shopping and transportation.

The landscape becomes more rural going west, with expansive, grassy fields and plenty of space between homes. The neighborhood doesn’t contain sidewalks. Homes include midcentury bungalows and ranch-styles. Prices range from about $282,000 to $565,000.
