Wyandotte
Humble home exteriors open up to modernized living spaces
American vernacular homes from the early-to-mid 20th century with wood exteriors and Craftsman touches line the streets of Wyandotte. Prominent columns, large porches and low-pitched roofs are common features. Nostalgic exteriors often lead to updated interiors, commonly including hardwood floors and open or semi-open floorplans. Prices range from the $50,000s for fixer-upper properties up to the $230,000 mark for large single-family homes.Easy access to greater Louisville with the Watterson Expressway
Wyandotte connects to the greater Louisville area with the Watterson Expressway/Interstate 264 to the south, the KY-1865 state highway on the neighborhood’s west side, and Southern Parkway/KY-1020 to the east. Residents can reach downtown Louisville with a 5-mile drive northeast. Transit Authority of River City bus stops are available along 5th Street and Taylor Boulevard. The nearest hospital, Norton Audubon Hospital, is 5 miles northeast of Wyandotte. Louisville International Airport sits 2 miles southeast of the neighborhood for travel beyond the Louisville area.Close to retail and dining options in surrounding neighborhoods

Dining close to the 2nd Street location includes a Beef ‘O’ Brady’s pub, Starbucks, Las Margaritas Mexican Cuisine and Sam’s Gyros. More food options are available on the neighborhood’s west side near Taylor Berry, with local picks like Louisville Pizza King and fast food options like Rally’s close at hand.

Wyandotte Park sits at the neighborhood’s southwest end. Locals can find a variety of amenities at the 23-acre park, including a set of basketball courts with refurbishments funded by Nike and R&B singer Bryson Tiller, a Louisville native, in 2017. The park also provides a splash pad, baseball field, and courts to play tennis or pickleball. Smaller pocket parks, such as Bellevue Park and Cliff Park, are 2 miles south of the neighborhood. Kentucky Kingdom, a regional theme park featuring thrill rides and water slides at the neighboring Hurricane Bay waterpark, is 3 miles east of Wyandotte. Iroquois Park is also just eight minutes south of the neighborhood. Once described as “Louisville’s Yellowstone” by its architect Frederick Law Olmsted, this 725-acre park offers residents a scenic view of the city of Louisville at its overlook, an 18-hole golf course, and the Iroquois Amphitheater for live music in a variety of genres.Magnet learning programs at Jefferson County Public Schools

Locals in Wyandotte live just south of Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby. Preceded by a citywide festival with various celebrations, the annual horse race kicks off the battle for the most coveted title in the sport, the Triple Crown. The track offers more than 70 race days throughout the rest of the year, along with facility tours. Wyandotte residents are also about 3 miles east of Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay, a theme park and water park open in late spring and summer. The main park also opens for seasonal events in October and December.Important information to know
Wyandotte residents are 2 miles away from the University of Louisville campus. The second-largest university in the state, U of L offers more than 75 master’s degree programs and 50 undergraduate concentrations.
