A rural bedroom community on the outskirts of Canton
Louisville's rural feel originates from more than its location in the wide-open fields between larger cities Canton and Alliance. Part of it revolves around its downtown, still with vintage buildings dating back to the mid-19th century. Part of it is the population of about 9,500 and the way residents gather regularly for community events. And then there's the traffic, or rather, lack of it, says Dean Mickley, a resident and real estate agent with Howard Hanna Real Estate Services. “I don’t like traffic lights, so we’re in good shape here — we only have about four,” he says, adding commutes to larger job centers are easy. “It’s like you’d see in a magazine about small-town America.''
From New Traditional homes to American Foursquares
The median home price is $240,000, lower than the national median. Many of the homes downtown were built from the early 1900s to the 1950s, whereas the neighborhoods on the outskirts typically date from the 1970s to the 2000s. Common architectural styles in new subdivisions range from New Traditionals to farmhouses, while the historic homes at the center of the city are ranch-style and American Foursquares.
According to Mickley, most people work outside the city. The largest local employers are the school district and a collection of small manufacturing companies.

Parks and The Louisville Leopards Stadium
Mary C. Metzger Park is a popular recreation space, best known for the "Magical Rainbow Playground," a castle-like playground structure with multicolored turrets. Metzger also includes a dog park, soccer fields, picnic areas and miles of paths.
The Louisville High Leopards Stadium, off-campus by a few blocks, hosts high school football games with a capacity for 5,800 fans. “Our football stadium is equivalent to a college stadium,” says Mickley. “It’s pretty impressive.''

Pubs in historic storefronts and flea markets off country roads
Most shops, grocery stores and restaurants line North Chapel Street or cluster in the heart of the historic downtown. The dining scene features a mix of fast food and unique sit-down restaurants in the form of pubs, breweries and cafes. The Louisville City School District
Students fall within the Louisville City School District, which scored an A-minus on Niche. The district supports two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. North Nimishillen Elementary School and Louisville Elementary School are among the highest-rated schools, both earning an A-minus.

Second Fridays and Constitution Day
The downtown streets come alive May through October with second Fridays. This event features tribute bands, unique performers, art and food vendors and a farmers’ market. Every September, the town holds the annual Constitution Day parade, inspired by the colloquial namesake of Louisville as “Constitution Town.” This tradition began when resident Olga Weber, petitioned for a Constitution Day to the United States Congress in 1952.
Second Friday's Louisville happens every summer from April to October.

Between Canton and Alliance
State Route 153 and State Route 44 intersect at the heart of Louisville, providing direct access to Canton 7 miles west and Alliance 12 miles northeast. The Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) provides public transportation toward Canton and Alliance hourly from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. A one-way ride is $1.50, and stops are located throughout Louisville. For healthcare, the Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital Primary Care is located within the city. The Akron-Canton Airport is 16 miles northwest.

Louisville experiences a humid continental climate. The city gets an average of 42 inches of snow per year, compared to the U.S. average of 28 inches. Louisville also experiences fewer sunny days, with 168 compared to the U.S. average of 205.
According to FBI data, the rates of reported violent crime and property crime in Louisville are lower than the Ohio average and national average.
