While Bushland Springs has no parks, Cooke Park is only 1 mile east. The City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department installed a new playground in 2023 with a fresh layout as part of a citywide strategy to upgrade park infrastructure. The park now has interactive musical equipment and a new zip-line experience called the “gravity rail,” which is equipped for children of all abilities to enjoy. A walking path and picnic pavilion are also available. One mile west, Hinojosa Park is a quiet piece of greenery with basketball and volleyball courts, plus a pavilion for picnics and cookouts. A few blocks south, Upland Crossing Park, located within the subdivision of the same name has community walking trails around a pond.

Bushland Springs is 9 miles west of downtown Lubbock, with the most direct route available via US-82. Residents are also close to Loop 289, which encircles the city and provides access to most of the Lubbock metropolitan area.
