Growing west Lubbock neighborhood

Nine miles west of Lubbock, the Carlisle neighborhood is part of the city's continued expansion west of Loop 289. Built around Upland Crossing Park, the neighborhood is close to one of Lubbock's largest shopping centers, with a collection of primarily new-construction homes and even more room to grow. Plus, it boasts the city's highest-ranked schools. "It's a developing neighborhood," says Wilson Bowling, Neighborhood Planner for the City of Lubbock. "I think the earliest homes built here were in 2019, and it's not fully built out either." The Upland Crossing area of Carlisle feels like "a suburb within city limits," Bowling says, with lush lawns, a community park, and walking paths for residents of the growing development. Meanwhile, the northern and far western portions of Carlisle, take on an older, more rural feel with more opportunities for growth.
