Established inner-Loop Lubbock neighborhood
This central Lubbock neighborhood was named in honor of Charles Ernest Maedgen, who founded what is now Lubbock National Bank in 1920 and who was a prominent figure in the city for several decades. Covering about 1 square mile, Maedgen is an established enclave of midcentury homes with sidewalk-lined streets, that is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in the city, according to Wilson Bowling, a neighborhood planner with the City of Lubbock. Though it's mostly residential, Maedgen is bordered by two commercial thoroughfares lined with local restaurants that are easy to stroll for residents. It's also a short drive to downtown Lubbock and Texas Tech University.
