Phil Hoel Park sits right in the center of the neighborhood and is known for its meandering walking paths that encircle a large pond known as a quiet spot to cast a fishing line. It is also home to numerous species of birds who wander along the shore. For more active fun, Hoel Park also has tennis courts and a playground. Just east of Preston Smith, LakeRidge Country Club hosts one of Lubbock’s finest golf courses and also features a junior Olympic sized pool, a clubhouse and tennis courts. A single-family home is usually priced between $200,000 and $350,000, far cheaper than neighboring LakeRidge County Club or Regal Park. Voted one of Lubbock’s best new restaurants, Picoso’s has classic street style tacos and a variety of tasty combinations with traditional flavors. Preston Smith is about 10 miles south of downtown Lubbock with access available via US-82 and Loop 289. For those without a vehicle, the nearest Citibus stop is about a mile outside the neighborhood on 82nd Street and Slide Road.
