In northwest Lubbock’s growing residential corridor, Shadow Hills brings more than just vivid tee shots and never ending fairways. Six miles west of downtown Lubbock the neighborhood located right off of Loop 289 is close to an abundance of shopping options and is served by Frenship Independent School District, ranked as the best school district in Lubbock by Niche. The neighborhood is built around the Shadow Hills Golf Course, one of the city’s premier public courses and has a collection of Traditional style homes. “I played there last week and it’s the best public course in Lubbock,” said Cole Whisenhunt, a Realtor with Keller Williams. Wilson Bowling a City Planner with the City of Lubbock agreed, adding tee times fill up fast with many golfers flocking to the neighborhood on weekends.

Northwest Lubbock golf haven
Teeing off at Shadow Hills, residents have access to some of the most affordable greens fees in Lubbock. With tree-lined fairways and a course surrounded by lakes and the natural environment, Shadow Hills is a place to hone skills or for new players to discover the grand old game. The course’s signature hole number six is a 123 yard par three surrounded by water and wildlife. If feeling hungry, at the ninth hole there is a phone to dial in orders to Birdies Grill to enjoy a sit down meal after tapping in the final putt. Just east of Shadow Hills, The Rawls Course at Texas Tech is home to the Red Raiders men's and women's golf program and has been recognized by Golfweek as one of the top courses in the state. The par 72 course covers 7,207 yards and was designed by Tom Doak incorporating minimalist design principles around the natural features of Lubbock’s south plains region. The course has hosted multiple NCAA regional tournaments. Richard Lopez Park just east of Shadow Hills and has a grassy open field for quiet, tranquil strolls and a playground for kids to explore.

Traditional ranch-style homes near the fairway
Designed to be a walkable community, homes in Shadow Hills were built between the 1980s and early 2000s, with traditional style architecture making up the vast majority of houses. Meandering streets are lined with leafy mature trees foreshadowing a typical round of 18. The neighborhood sports bar has more than 40 TVs and was founded by Red Raiders alum and Lubbock native Curtis Jordan, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Washington Redskins. High performing Frenship Schools
Students in Shadow Hills attend Frenship Independent School District, with some beginning at North Ridge Elementary School before moving on to Terra Vista Middle School and Frenship High School. All three schools are rated an A on Niche. The district was created in 1935 with the merging of three other rural districts, adopting an unorthodox spelling to distinguish itself from another ‘Friendship Schools’ in the Houston area. Students at Frenship High can take advantage of dual enrollment opportunities with the early college program. Students can earn up to 60 credits towards an associate’s degree in partnership with Angelo State University. Lubbock Christian University sits two miles south of the neighborhood where 1,600 students can study in more than 100 academic disciplines on the 155 acre campus constructed in 1957. Texas Tech University and 40,000 undergraduate students and sits five miles east of Shadow Hills.
North Ridge Elementary School has an enrollment of 718 students.
Terra Vista Middle School has a total enrollment of 912 students.

Shadow Hills is about seven miles west of downtown Lubbock and residents have multiple options to get where they need, with 4th Street, State Route 114 and Loop 289 all available. Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport is 12 miles northeast.
