Students attend Lubbock Independent School District, with some beginning at Ramirez Elementary School, moving on to Hutchinson Middle School and Lubbock High School. Lubbock High Students have an average SAT score of 1,200, and is the only school in the state of Texas to have a mariachi music program with a full ensemble. South Overton is about one mile west of downtown Lubbock with quick access available via Broadway Street. Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport is seven miles north of the neighborhood offering service to several regional destinations.
