Lutz (pronounced “Loots”) offers a rural way of life, and that’s what residents enjoy the most about the area. While located only miles from Tampa, the community feels like one much farther out than it is. Split into two counties, Lutz offers further choice to its residents with Hillsborough County being very rural and Pasco County being more developed. Lutz features primarily single-family contemporary and craftsman homes ranging from $350,000 to $850,000, with some homes on the waterfront going for upwards of $1.5 million. Homebuyers can expect spacious front and back yards, with the surrounding greenery being one of the key features of the area.
While the quieter way of life may be one factor that draws residents to Lutz, it’s hardly the only one – just ask Kimberly Murray Bell of Murray Bell Real Estate, long-time resident and real estate agent from Lutz. “When I think of Lutz, I think of the schools,” she says. “They’re really fantastic.” And it’s true that students in the Lutz community have an abundance of choice when it comes to their education, with the area featuring high-rated schools across the board. Children can begin their education at Chiles Elementary School, for instance, before continuing to Terrace Community Middle School and finishing up at Steinbrenner High School – all of which scored a grade of A or higher on Niche.
Beyond just peace and quiet, Lutz offers its residents more than enough adventure and plenty of things to do. Lake Park, for instance, has a variety of ways to spend the day with walking and bike trails, canoeing, and horse-riding all available. Golfers will enjoy the award-winning TPC Tampa Bay golf course, the semi-private golf course at the Club of Cheval, or any of the other six golf courses in the area. Those looking to pass the time shopping aren’t short of options either, with several outlets and malls, such as The Shops at Wiregrass and the International Mall, around the area. During holidays and special occasions, residents enjoy parades and festivals, with the Fourth of July parade in particular demonstrating the outdoorsy, community-driven nature of Lutz.
Those looking for the amenities of the city with the serenity of rural living may feel low on options, but communities like Lutz show that it’s more than possible. “It has something for everyone, especially if you want to live a bit farther out,” says Kimberly Murray Bell. “It’s such an easy commute – five minutes and everything is at your fingertips.”
