A family-friendly suburb near Liberty University
Sheffield is a larger suburb in Lynchburg that’s known for its namesake school, Sheffield Elementary School, and its closeness to Liberty University. “It’s a unique area because it brings all different types of people, due to the nearby college,” says Martin Donovan, a Realtor with Lauren Bell Real Estate, who has over thirty years of experience in the area. “Sheffield has good schools, affordable home prices and a strong community. It’s a great place to call home.” In September and October, residents highly anticipate and come together at Smith’s Pumpkin Patch, which is run by a local family. It’s a perfect place for family outings or date nights and offers activities such as face painting and hayrides. “It’s a nice little event for the kids to play,” says Sabrina Tomlin, a Realtor with NextHome TwoFourFive who has lived in Lynchburg her whole life. “My grandchildren always liked going there when they were young.”
