A residential community close to Nahant Bay and downtown Lynn
Walking down the streets of Lynn English, a culturally diverse neighborhood in Lynn close to the town center, one can find Victorian-era homes connected by sidewalks, as well as specialty supermarkets, restaurants, ponds and parks. While the historic houses add a vintage ambiance to the community, the area’s proximity to downtown, Nahant Bay and the North Shore gives residents a variety of options for outdoor activities and entertainment. “Lynn is one of the first towns on the North Shore,” says Arthur Durkin, who is part of The Art of the Sale Team at Keller Williams Realty with 7 years of experience. “It’s very attractive for residents to be close to the water. People love to go to Lynn Beach or travel up the coast to one of the other towns on the North Shore.”
Well-preserved homes from the 1800s dot the streets
Many area homes were built from the 1850s to the 1950s, and homebuyers can find well-preserved Craftsman bungalows and Foursquares from the Victorian era to Colonial Revivals and raised ranches. “This is a great market for first-time home buyers,” Durkin says. “A lot of properties are smaller homes that are decently priced.” Single-family houses usually list between $400,000 and $600,000, and multi-family properties can go from $600,000 to $900,000. Homeowners can occupy one level and rent out the other units individually. Houses with modest yards usually sit close to each other. Common architectural and landscape designs include front porches, pillared balconies and picket fences. The narrow roads are often lined with century-old, deciduous trees, adding a rustic, vintage character to the neighborhood.
