Southland Center is a multipurpose athletic center on Volbrecht Road that houses facilities for sports such as volleyball, basketball and baseball. One of the biggest appeals is that it’s really quiet, and a place where you can come to unwind after a busy day,” says Banks. Most homes in the area were built after 1970, and continuous development means new homes are consistently popping up on the market. A walk along the wide sidewalks of Lynwood’s residential streets reveals a diversity of home styles, old and new, from split levels and brick ranches to farmhouses and Cape Cods. Folks who live on Lake Shore Drive and Lake Lynwood Drive enjoy beautiful lake views year-round. “Lakefront residents can be seen paddleboarding and kayaking out on the water in the summer months,” Banks says.

To finish their education, Lynwood kids will head to Lansing to learn at Thornton Fractional South High School, rated a B-minus.
