Sixteen miles southwest of Little Rock is the desirable neighborhood of Shannon Hills. “Not to be cliché, but this is a situation where location, location, location really applies,” says Hannah Scroggins of Southern Homes Realty. “There are so many great restaurants nearby and the Bryant School District is a big draw. The quick access to I-430 makes the commute to Little Rock so easy for the people that work in the city.” While the big city is close, a sense of community is important to the people of Shannon Hills, who often hold seasonal festivals in local Shamrock Park.

Prices for homes in Shannon Hills range from $150,000 for three-bedroom ranch-style builds, to $300,000 for larger, multi-story brick houses and all styles are flying off the market. “You could list a house one day, and have multiple offers by the next day,” Scroggins claims. The town features a mix of planned-out gridded areas and unplanned neighborhoods with winding streets and cul-de-sacs perfect for privacy and quiet. Appropriately named, this hilly area may be difficult to walk, but the spacious backyards provide a spot for a pet to get exercise. Many of the homes in the area feature short driveways and multi-car garages to eliminate the hassle of street parking. Nature will never feel far away, as a variety of mature trees provide shade to the neighborhood.

Children begin their education at Robert L. Davis Elementary School, part of the Bryant School District. Davis Elementary holds an A- rating on Niche and features a 15:1 student-teacher ratio. Next, they head to Bryant Middle School. The school, which also received an A- rating from Niche, offers a Future Business Leaders of America club in which students attend local leadership conferences and work on community service projects. The A- rated Bryant High is an athletics hot spot, as the Hornets have won four baseball championships since 2010, and four football championships since 2018.

Residents rave over the quality ingredients that make David’s Burgers a prime lunch spot and a five-time winner of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s Best of the Best award. Megumi Hibachi Express offers popular Japanese favorites like crab Rangoon and hibachi chicken teriyaki. For those warm Arkansas days, Sno Shack is the place to cool off with a sweet treat. Sno Shack specializes in shaved ice and snow cones with plenty of flavors to choose from.

Shamrock Park is a great place for locals to gather and relax. Children can climb on one of two playground equipment sets, and there is plenty of open space to toss a football or frisbee. The park is also a venue for a variety of neighborhood events. Each spring, the community hosts an Easter egg hunt for the local children. The Shannon Hills Fall Fest is popular with the locals and offers food, drinks and games. Live music from local artists provides the soundtrack as kids flock to the petting zoo, before participating in pumpkin painting and other crafts.

Outstanding shopping is always close by, as Shannon Hills is just five miles from the Outlets of Little Rock. With everything from Old Navy to Gap to Bass Pro Shops, the Outlets of Little Rock is a great destination for shoppers. For everyday conveniences, Walmart and Kroger are five miles from the center of Shannon Hills, and El Mercado Latino provides authentic Hispanic groceries, three minutes from town. With a close proximity to I-430, Shannon Hills is just a short drive from Little Rock for all other retail needs.
