Custom homes on large green lots
Smith says houses in Bolingbroke are not easy to get. "Everyone hangs on to their house around here," she says, "if people can find one, they get it quickly and stay put." They're particularly desirable for their square footage and large lots; homes here measure anywhere from 2,000 to 4,500 square feet and sit on sizable lots. Most residents own at least an acre of land, but several have a few acres of outstretched green partially wrapped in white or brown fencing; it's not uncommon to see horses galloping around some of the bigger lots. And every house looks different. "We've got some gorgeous homes here, most of which are custom," Smith says. Styles range anywhere from contemporary farmhouses and colonials to ranches. Homes list from $300,000 to $800,000.A lack of parks doesn't limit residents from enjoying the outdoors
While Bolingbroke doesn't have public parks, Smith emphasizes that its residents still get outside and embrace the neighborhood's natural environment. "There are a lot of people that walk and run around the neighborhood," she says. "A bike club meets up in the church parking lot." Hunting is a popular activity, and Williamson Lake is a hub for local anglers. "There's lots of good fishing there, and people that live on the lake own up to 10 feet into the water," Smith says. The lake doesn't have public access, but several residents who live along the water have private docks and invite their neighbors. Lake Juliette offers additional fishing options about 15 miles away.Monroe County Schools earn high remarks on Niche
