"Macon's Most Beautiful Suburb"
Ingleside was billed as “Macon’s Most Beautiful Suburb” after its creation. A thick tree canopy blankets the neighborhood, and many streets have sidewalks that pass by Classical homes built between the early 1900s and 1950. The neighborhood has a wide range of styles including cottages, bungalows, midcentury modern, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Craftsman and ranch-style homes. Three-bedroom Classical homes can range from $120,000 to $400,000, increasing in price with additional square footage and larger lots. While most homes cost under $500,000, historic Classical estates on 1-acre lots can cost up to $750,000.

Shopping at Historic Ingleside Village
Historic Ingleside Village was considered Macon’s first suburban shopping center when it began serving customers in the mid-1950s. Unique shops, restaurants and art galleries are within easy walking distance of each other. Many locals agree that Macon’s best pizza is at Ingleside Village Pizza. Diners place their order at a walk-up window inside the kitschy dining room and receive pies piled high with toppings in return. Ingleside neighbors meet at The Society Garden for beer, wine and live music on the pup-friendly patio. The beer garden has yoga pop-up workshops, a Macon Maker’s Market every first Saturday of the month and an on-site food truck every Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. The shopping center also has eclectic shops like William’s Fun Smart Toys, Fanboy Collectibles & Comics and Macon K-pop. Residents can pick up Georgia-grown organic produce and specialty goods at Village Marketplace, or head about 4 miles northwest to Kroger.

Henry Burns Park and the Ocmulgee River
Parents take their kids to Henry Burns Park to burn off energy on two playgrounds designed for different age groups. Adults can watch their kiddos from sunny or shaded seating or work up a sweat on the tennis court. Amerson River Park is a sprawling park to the north with trails, a canoe launch and a playground. Most people looking to kayak, canoe or lazily float along the Ocmulgee River set off from Amerson River Park. City officials are working to expand the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail system to Amerson River Park so pedestrians, hikers and bikers can make their way to Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park, which is poised to become Georgia’s first National Park.
