An affordable and convenient Malden neighborhood
Less than 2 miles east of Malden’s center is the Maplewood community, a small neighborhood that converges into Maplewood Square, the area's namesake. Here, residents will find a variety of shopping and dining options and will likely run into someone they know while out running errands. The community also offers close access to the rest of Greater Boston, with roads and public transportation options just a short walk from many condos and single-family homes. “The area is more affordable than other parts of Boston—that’s what it is known for,” says Michelle Tenaglia, a Coldwell Banker Realtor who has been serving the Boston area for almost 6 years.

Many houses in the Maplewood area are Cape Cod and Foursquare designs, with a number of split-level homes scattered around, as well. There are also some newly constructed single-family properties and larger houses that have been converted into condominiums. Most single-family residences include private driveways and are situated closer to the street, making it easy to strike up a conversation with neighbors and allowing space for small gardens or bushes out front.
