Neighbors have celebrated the Manchester Chicken Broil for over 70 years

For over 70 years, the Manchester Chicken Broil has taken place on the third Thursday of July. It is the most anticipated event of the year for Manchester residents. During this annual event, local volunteers work together to cook and serve thousands of chicken dinners for the Manchester community. Gene DeRossett says, "It's one of the days we look forward to each year, and everyone celebrates in their own way." He explained, "Some residents stay at the park to eat with the community, and others take their chicken to-go and smaller backyard barbecues with friends." Each year, all of the proceeds from this event are dedicated to improving different aspects of the Manchester community.
