When you think of the word manor, what comes to mind? Manor Borough showcases lovely large homes as its name implies, along with a high-quality school district and parks.

In the middle of Manor, homes and businesses rest on compact, walkable grid streets. In this part of the borough, the houses have small yards. Manor extends into winding, suburban streets complete with cul-de-sacs and larger yards, especially in newer construction areas. Either way, you may stumble on attractive architectural styles. “Manor has big old beautiful Victorian houses and nice new construction too,” says Rusek-Lichok, Realtor at Coldwell Banker Realty. An ornate Victorian with a wraparound porch and colorful woodwork may range between $112,000 to $210,000. For new construction, a Colonial with symmetrical, shuttered windows may cost $468,000 to $522,000. On the more affordable side, a vinyl bungalow with a brick front porch can go for $78,000 to $102,000, while vinyl American Foursquares with broad front porches can sell for $146,000 to $206,000.

Manor students may attend the noteworthy Penn-Trafford School District. According to Niche, the school system earns an A for excellent administration, academics and teachers. The district has a one-to-one student device ratio for accessible technology. Schools include Trafford Elementary School, Trafford Middle School and Penn-Trafford High School.

Spend time outside in a couple of the borough’s green spaces. At the Manor War Memorial, view a monument that honors veterans and those lost in battle in a walkable area. Meanwhile, multi-purpose Manor Borough Park offers a wide range of features from a skatepark to a bridge used to cross over Brush Creek. Bring children to one of the two playgrounds, depending on the age and size of the kids. The park also has a ball field and a basketball court for athletes.

For indoor recreation, visit the Manor Public Library. It has programs for all ranges for everyone to enjoy the community resource. Choose between Tuesday Tales for preschoolers, Bright Builders which features Lego building, Book Club and Adult Craft sessions.

For a convenient and tasty meal, pick from two casual spots in Manor. The Manor Grille, a family-owned American restaurant, serves diner breakfasts from pancakes to biscuits and gravy in a relaxed, no-frills atmosphere. At An Extra Slice of New York, order takeout meatball pizza rolls and New York-style pies with crust dough fermented for high quality. For dessert, head to JessB Bakes for cupcakes and cookies to take home.

Celebrate at Manor Community Day, a summertime borough extravaganza. “Manor is a small town that has a parade with all kinds of vendors and games,” Rusek-Lichok says. Events include a pet parade to show off furry friends, children’s train rides, crafts and vendors, dance performances and live music.

About 23 miles from downtown Pittsburgh, Manor residents can easily commute to city office buildings. Folks can also go on weekend adventures to Point State Park or Market Square. In Manor, enjoy picturesque architecture, a great multi-purpose park and a locally owned diner restaurant.
