Situated between two of Marion's bigger employers
On Marion’s western side, Franklin residents live right between two of Marion’s major employers. Just on the other side of Miller Avenue is a General Motors metal stamping plant. While the company used to have a larger presence in the city, this plant is not the only employment option anymore. “GM used to be huge, but it has cut down a lot of the manufacturing,” says Sally Jenks, a broker with RE/MAX Realty One. “Now, we have Indiana Wesleyan University and Marion Health, and a VA Hospital too—it’s more diversified than it used to be.” Marion Health Family Medical Center is the city’s hospital, located just 1 mile east of Franklin homes. Still, living in Franklin isn’t just about access to work. Marion’s largest park is just a couple miles to the north, along with supermarkets and chain restaurants along the way.
Early 1900s bungalows and Nationals in Franklin
Telephone wires hang over Franklin’s bungalows and Nationals built in the early 1900s. The Marion water tower overlooks the neighborhood, visible to those walking the dog or taking a stroll. Sidewalks often run along both sides of the street, connecting residents to the neighborhood park and the bus stops. Homes here typically sell between $30,000 and $150,000, though some on the lower end of the spectrum might need some repairs before they are move-in ready.
