Farther east toward the mountains is Prescott Park, a rural recreational area full of pathways for hikers and cyclists. “There are a lot of really pretty, family-friendly hiking trails over there,” Whitaker says. “A lot of them are paved, and you get some beautiful views of the mountains.”

Proximity to The Village at Medford Center
The Village at Medford Center shopping mall has chain eateries and department stores like T.J. Maxx, Burlington and Ross Dress for Less a mile west of the neighborhood. The shopping mall is also home to Tap & Vine @ 559, a tavern-style restaurant with an outdoor patio serving American dishes like burgers, steaks and sandwiches. Across the street is Cinemark Tinseltown Medford, a regional movie theatre chain with 15 screens and an arcade. Residents can get groceries at Safeway supermarket, which has a deli and bakery. “There are also some farms out in that area, including a vineyard called RoxyAnn Winery, which is one of the oldest wineries in Medford,” Whitaker says. “They have entertainment, events and a historic barn on the property that people do tastings in.”

Cars used to navigate the hilly terrain
Because of its hilly terrain, residents in College Hill typically rely on personal vehicles to get around. “It’s more of a driving neighborhood, but it is an easy drive to downtown Medford,” Whitaker says. There are a couple of bus stops on Spring Street and McAndrews Road, which are part of the 27: Crosstown East route operated by the Rogue Valley Transportation District. The Rogue Valley International Medford Airport is a 3.5-mile drive north and offers domestic flights to cities in the western United States, as well as a handful of international flights to Canada and Mexico. A couple of blocks west of College Hill is the Providence Medford Medical Center, a 120-bed community hospital that offers emergency services and more than a dozen other healthcare specialties. Two miles southeast is the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, which features specialty services and a 24-hour emergency room.
