Over 400 acres of parks and open spaces
Parks and open space cover 475 acres on Mercer Island. Pioneer Park is the largest, encompassing more than 100 forested acres interlaced with trails. It is divided into three quadrants, each sought for different reasons. The Southeast Quadrant is popular with horseback riders as it offers trails designed and maintained for the sport. Just west of Parkwood-Mercer Firs is Island Crest Park, which has courts and fields for baseball, soccer, tennis and open space for hiking. The park borders Deane's Children's Park, giving kids a place to play. Mercer Island Country Club is over a mile southwest, offering a members-only spot to swim, work out and socialize. Luther Burbank Park is on Lake Washington with a swimming beach, public boat dock and fishing pier. Mercerdale Park hosts city events, including the annual Juneteenth Celebration. Both parks are within 3 miles of the community.Homes start at $1 million, some with lakefront views
Ranch styles, Colonial Revivals and custom builds from the 1960s to '80s, completely remodeled inside and out, are common. Many have added floor-to-ceiling windows. Even fixer-uppers cost no less than a million in Parkwood-Mercer Firs. Prices generally begin from around $1.6 million to $5.8 million. The range heads over the $6 million mark to $8.1 million for large waterfront homes. New construction with waterside views fetches the highest prices as newer homes are rare.
