A close-knit community in southwest Chicago
In the 1940s, Joseph Merrion oversaw the construction of 120 homes in southwest Chicago, which has grown into today’s community of 2,000 residents that call the village of Merrionette Park home. This small, Cook County village has walkable, sidewalk-lined streets, and most residents are within walking distance from parks, grocery stores and medical centers. “Merrionette Park is a small and close community,” says Kimberly Neill, a local real estate agent with RE/MAX 1st Service. “I grew up in the area, and you get the best of both worlds: a suburban atmosphere with all the conveniences of suburban living. We also have lower house prices and more established homes for the area.”
Small homes outside the Windy City
With an average listing price just under $200,000, Merrionette Park is more affordable than the surrounding south Chicago suburbs. Cozy brick bungalows with two bedrooms and around 1,000 square feet hit the market for $160,000 or so, while for $250,000 and above there are four-bedroom abodes with 1,500 square feet. The homes here sit close together on quaint, well-maintained lots, with common architectural styles including split-levels, ranch-style homes and bungalows.
In Merrionette Park East, newer cul-de-sac neighborhoods can be found with modern home builds.
Recently built split-level homes are also present in Merrionette Park East.
Ranch-style houses can be found in Merrionette Park East with both yard and garage space.

A quad-school system for students
A pipeline of four public schools serves the students of Merrionette Park, starting with Lawn Manor School, where learners can spend their kindergarten through second grade years. For the remainder of their elementary years, kids can head to Meadow Lane School, which is within a half-mile walk of all the village’s homes. Hamlin Upper Grade Center earns a B-minus overall grade from Niche and serves 200 of the area's middle schoolers. Also with a B-minus rating is Eisenhower High School, which hosts a wide variety of unique course offerings outside of its core curriculum, including internet technology and web page design, culinary arts and childhood development and care.
