What to expect as Hawes Crossing grows in southeast Mesa

Sleek, contemporary homes are being built in Hawes Crossing, a new master-planned community in southeast Mesa. While it’ll be some years before all the dust settles, this early-stage neighborhood is growing alongside major city investments, from new retail hubs to expanding employment corridors near Mesa Gateway Airport. As the community builds out, residents can expect shared amenities for gathering, getting active and everyday relaxation. It’s a practical fit for buyers who want new homes without losing easy East Valley access.

Home prices and builders developing the Hawes Crossing community

Lennar and Taylor Morrison are leading the Hawes Crossing development. The builders have several residential collections, catering to different budgets and lifestyles. “This variety allows families to stay within the community even as their needs evolve,” says Brad Schoenberg, regional president at Taylor Morrison. Prices start with townhouses under construction on the south end, with units selling between the high $300,000s and low $400,000s. New and pre-construction single-family homes sell from the low $500,000s to the low $700,000s, depending on size and design. Both roll into the neighborhood’s overall median price, which is in the mid-$500,000s, lower than some nearby planned communities, such as Eastmark and Morrison Ranch.

Where residents go for fitness, parks and outdoor fun

Even in its early phases, Hawes Crossing focuses on recreation. “The amenity center is truly the hub of the community,” Schoenberg says, pointing to new spaces like the clubhouse, fitness center, pickleball courts, playground, splash pad and pool where neighbors can connect. While the community continues to take shape, there are other nearby avenues for outdoor activity, including:

  • Paloma Sports Complex, a membership-based facility with indoor pickleball courts, a fitness center and athletic programs
  • Eastmark Great Park, offering playgrounds, a shaded splash pad, dog parks, picnic-perfect lawns and a fishing pond
  • The Hawes Trail System, a local favorite for mountain biking, hiking and running
  • Usery Mountain Regional Park, home to rugged Sonoran Desert scenery, cactus-lined trails and wide-open Superstition Mountain views

Shopping hubs are close, while streets are quiet at home

Hawes Crossing and the area immediately around it might still be coming together, but residents are a short drive from Gilbert Gateway Town Center, about 5 miles away, and larger, more established retail destinations like SanTan Village and Queen Creek Marketplace, roughly 10 miles out. “The Hawes Crossing master plan is uniquely situated — bordered by commercial buildings, data centers and high-end apartment communities, creating a well-defined perimeter around the neighborhood,” Schoenberg says. “Most cross-traffic flows north toward Elliot and Power roads, where major shopping, restaurants and entertainment are located. Because that activity is directed away from residential areas, the interior of Hawes Crossing maintains a peaceful, low-traffic feel.”
