More affordable prices in Mesquite
Casa Terrace is located about one-and-a-half miles from downtown Mesquite, a modest neighborhood on the eastern edge of the Metroplex. This suburban community features brick homes, often built between 1960 and 1980, packed tightly next to their neighbors. Budget-friendly prices and location are among the key attractions for the area. "The prices in the neighborhood make it desirable for entry-level buyers," says David Hullett, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Apex Realtors, who was born and raised in the city. "The old saying goes, 'all roads lead to Mesquite,' and a big draw to the city is that you can easily get anywhere in the Metroplex within an hour's drive."
Colonial Revivals and brick ranch-style homes
Casa Terrace offers a range of home styles and sizes, with Colonial Revivals, Craftsman-style bungalows and ranchers among the most common. Older, modest homes needing renovations can range from $195,000 to $250,000, while a three-bedroom Colonial Revival or Craftsman bungalow typically costs between $300,000 and $350,000. "The market is interesting. While we have lost buyers and sellers due to interest rates, with low inventory, supply and demand has stayed and kept the prices from bottoming out," Hullett says. We have not seen this effect on the entry-level market, so it would not be surprising if a house in Casa Terrace still receives multiple offers." Privacy fences and well-kept yards line the narrow streets behind compact sidewalks and scattered trees. Street parking is widely available, and most homes have a garage or driveway.
Cheeseburgers and onion rings at Burger Pop Mesquite
Cartwright Road has several restaurant and retail options near the neighborhood's southern edge. Burger Pop Mesquite is a local burger joint that patrons praise for its seasonings. It also serves Philly Cheesesteaks, wings and onion rings. Taqueria Los Bolis is a food truck outside the Exxon gas station known for street tacos with various toppings. The Ice Cream Bar offers dessert options, including ice cream, churros and funnel cake. Tom Thumb and Albertson's sit on opposite ends of the neighborhood for groceries and other weekly needs. Target and other big-name retailers are about 7 miles north of the neighborhood, along Interstate 635.
Students prepare for the future at Mesquite High
Casa Terrace students are part of the Mesquite Independent School District, receiving a B-plus grade from Niche. Children east of South Beltline Road are zoned for Black Elementary, while students to the west will head to Moss Elementary, both getting a B-minus from Niche. Moss and Black Elementary feed into Agnew Middle School, which earns a B from Niche. Mesquite High School also earns a B from Niche and was the first school in the district. Mesquite High helps students plan their future with the Skeeter Career and College Readiness Center.
Observe plants and wild life at the park
Just west of Beltline Road is two parks. Hodges Park includes two baseball fields, a playground with picnic shelters, and some natural trails. A modest pedestrian bridge leads to the Burton Sports Complex across West Cartwright Road. The adjoining park surrounds a small pond with multiple soccer fields and a butterfly trail, where observers can see several local species of plants and animals. To the east is the Rutherford Recreation Center, a modest facility with an indoor gymnasium, sports fields and a playground.
Need a car to get around the neighborhood
Casa Terrace residents rely on their vehicles, with very few public transportation options nearby. Dallas is about a 15-mile drive west, while getting to Fort Worth is about a 44-mile drive. Travelers head northwest to the DFW International Airport, about 37 miles away. There are two routes from the neighborhood to the airport, one of which has tolls but usually has less traffic. Prestige ER Mesquite Emergency Room is the nearest medical facility, just a few blocks outside the southeast corner of the neighborhood.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
