On the edge of Mesquite is the primarily residential neighborhood Creek Crossing Estates, set apart from the hustle and bustle of the general Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. “It’s a mature neighborhood with really good hospitals nearby,” says Sara Hudler, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Apex, Realtors. Dallas Regional Medical Center – Mesquite is about 5 miles northwest. Amenities such as shopping and schooling are nearby. At the intersection of Clay Mathis Road and Faithon P Lucas Sr Boulevard is a commercial section that’s home to Kroger and a variety of small businesses. Creek Crossing Estates has three schools: Jay R. Thompson Elementary, Dr. Joey Pirrung Elementary and Dr. James Terry Middle School. The community has a crime score of 2 on the CAP Index, lower than the national average of 4.

New Traditional homes in Creek Crossing Estates
Most of the homes in Creek Crossing Estates are New Traditional houses with red or gray brick facades and access to two- or three-car garages through backyard alleys. Street parking is uncommon, and sidewalks are scattered throughout the neighborhood. Creek Crossing Estates was mostly built between 1990 and 2000, with a few ranch-style homes built before the 1990s. “A lot of those [areas, there] are no HOAs,” Hudler says. Prices can range from about $254,000 to 450,000, with a median price of $335,000, higher than Mesquite’s median price but lower than Dallas’ median of about $450,000. The neighborhood has a few renters but predominantly consists of owners.

Walking distance to multiple Mesquite ISD schools
Children may be zoned to different schools within the neighborhood. Pirrung Elementary School sits in the northern section, with Thompson Elementary and Terry Middle schools in the south. Both Pirrung Elementary and Thompson earn a C-plus from Niche. B.J. Smith Elementary School earns a B-minus. If students attended Pirrung or Thompson, they would feed into the B-minus rated Terry Middle. If they attended Smith, they would move on to Judge Frank Berry Middle School, which earns a B. Students can then attend John Horn High School, which earns a B-plus from Niche. The school is the newest in the district, completed in 2000.

A car is needed to access the rest of the metroplex
U.S. Highway 80, to the north of the neighborhood, runs straight to the heart of Dallas. Interstate 635, to the west, makes a loop around Downtown Dallas. Dallas Area Transit Center does not service the neighborhood directly, but Buckner Station is about 11 miles west, providing access to the rest of the metroplex through the Green rail line. Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is almost 40 miles west.
