On the edge of Mesquite is the small residential neighborhood of East Glen. “It’s a quick drive to Dallas,” says Sara Hudler, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Apex, Realtors. “It’s really close and affordable.” East Glen is within 2 miles of schools and a variety of shopping, in addition to providing access to the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area. The neighborhood may have East Glen Boulevard dividing it in two but is offset from major roads. “That area is Old Mesquite, there are several people who have raised kids there and stayed there,” Hudler says.

East Glen consists of New Traditional homes with red and gray brick facades. Homes were primarily built in the 1980s, although a few homes built in the 2020s are scattered throughout. Prices can range from about $225,000 to $319,000. Most homes have between two and four bedrooms. Properties tend to be smaller and are a mixture of single and two-story homes. Most backyards are fenced-in and give access to two-car garages. These garages are connected to alleys that run behind all the streets of houses.

Two miles to schooling in Mesquite
East Glen is part of the Mesquite Independent School District. Students can begin education at Sam Rutherford Elementary School, which has a B grade on Niche. Agnew Middle School earns a B-minus, and Mesquite High School earns a B. Mesquite High School offers Advanced Placement courses and has a partnership with a local radio station. All three schools are within 2 miles of the neighborhood.

Samuell Farm Park with plenty of outdoor options
Samuell Farm is about 4 miles north of the neighborhood and covers over 400 acres. Established in 1938, Samuell Farms has multiple fishing ponds, plenty of fishing spots, green space and a paved path that leads to the various features of the park. There are a few smaller parks nearby, including Valley Creek Park, Paschall Park and Copeland Dog Park. Valley Creek Park is centered around a lake that has a paved path and a softball complex.

East Glen Boulevard divides the neighborhood in two and can lead into downtown Dallas, about 15 miles west. U.S. Route 80 is to the north of the neighborhood, and Interstate 635 is to the west. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is over 30 miles west with the closer Mesquite Metro Airport for private planes. “There are several really good hospitals nearby,” Hudler says. The Dallas Regional Hospital is a little less than 3 miles north.
