Surrounding Palos Verdes Lake Park

Northern Mesquite is designed so that its parks blend into its neighborhoods. Palos Verdes is special like this. "It's one where houses actually front the lake, so they have a really good view," says Mesquite Parks and Recreation director Elizabeth Harrel. Neighbors live in ranch-style homes and neo traditionals typical of Texas in an established area with mature trees while being a short drive from two thriving downtown areas. "It is a really close-knit community that's very family-oriented," says Alicia Trevino, an eXp Realty broker specializing in Mesquite.

Walking the Mesquite Heritage Trail

Harrel says another highlight of the neighborhood is its 4.25-mile Mesquite Heritage Trail. The trail loops around the lake and connects locals to several parks, including Beasley Park — which has softball fields, tennis courts and a track - and leads toward the 18-hole Mesquite Golf Club. Palos Verdes Lake Park has a fishing dock and an outdoor fitness center. Locals feed mallards, fish off the dock and simply free their minds within its open green spaces shrouded by comforting trees. The lake's dam was updated in 2020 from rusted metal to modern concrete, ensuring the water holds and flows smoothly for years. Its central fountain creates a bright rainbow when the sun hits just right.
