A stone's throw from Lake Pontchartrain's southern shore, Ferran Place-Courtland Heights is a popular neighborhood in Metairie just an 8-mile drive from downtown New Orleans. The neighborhood suffered considerable damage during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, but has mostly rebounded as one of the top suburbs in Jefferson Parish. It was even considered one of the best places to live in the entire country by 24/7 Wall St. in 2017. "The first thing I notice is how welcoming the people are," says Mark Rodi, a broker with Re/Max Affiliates and a 47-year real estate veteran. "There's close proximity to good schools both public and private, and most of them are within walking distance. So is shopping, if you'd like to stroll to Lakeside Shopping Center."
