Lafreniere Park offers recreation options to both humans and pets
One of Westgate’s most popular attractions is Lafreniere Park. The 155-acre green space was created by a community initiative in the late 1970s and was completed in 1982. Since then, the park has become a focal point for the community with its everyday pleasures as well as numerous festivals throughout the year. The tranquil space contains a two-mile jogging and walking trail, a pavilion island with multiple picnic tables, two playgrounds, and a 20-acre lagoon. The park is also home to an 18-hole disc golf course, several multi-use fields for baseball and soccer, and a covered carousel with more than 30 moving horses, tigers, zebras, and an ADA-accessible chariot. Open daily, Lafreniere Park is picturesque with manicured gardens and fountains. Pets are welcome, and there’s a dog park where pups can play off-leash.
