Running errands from this West Midland neighborhood is easy

Fairmont Park sits in the middle of the west side of Midland, a suburban enclave with charming homes, a park and proximity to multiple shopping centers. That proximity is one of the perks to living there, says Terra Avery, a longtime Midland resident and co-host of the "Best in Midland Texas Podcast." Since shopping centers are mainly concentrated on the city's west side, near neighborhoods like Fairmont Park, those living on Midland's east side have to spend more time in the car to run errands. "It might sound a little silly, but it's so convenient, especially for busy people," she says.

Fairmont Park residents can enjoy a day of shopping and exquisite food just minutes away.

Single family homes line quiet, suburban streets

Among the apartment buildings and retailers, there are many single-family homes in Fairmont Park, sitting on quiet, sidewalk-lined streets. Most are ranch-style, with brick exteriors, two-car garages and three bedrooms, priced in the low to mid $300,000s. Lot sizes run smaller than in other parts of the city, but there is plenty of room for landscaped front and backyards. Lawns are dotted with tall, shady trees. The wide streets offer room for additional parking, evening walks or bike rides.

Essex Park, CJ Kelly Park offer many amenities

Many residents head to Essex Park for outdoor recreation. The four-acre park sits in the center of the neighborhood and offers a shaded play structure with slides and climbing equipment. A shaded picnic pavilion sits close by, with multiple tables. A basketball court and a few more picnic tables are on the other side of the park. A paved walking path circles the park, where residents can walk or jog, and the soccer field in the center is an ideal place to kick the ball around. For more amenities, residents have easy access to CJ Kelly Park, just west of the neighborhood. CJ Kelly Park is 66 acres and a go-to for local sports, with multiple lighted baseball fields and football fields, concessions buildings and grills which are popular for pre-game cookouts. A pond in the park's center offers fishing, and there's also a playground and a walking path. For indoor recreation, Bowlero Midland is located off Route 250 (or Loop 250, as the locals call it) and offers bowling in a fun, air-conditioned environment.
