South Park is a residential block between well-traveled roads. It’s a couple of miles outside downtown Midland, which has become more popular in recent years. “They have quite a bit of local boutiques down there,” says Braun Burkholder, Realtor with The Agency KPJ, who has lived in Midland for nearly 40 years. “As well as restaurants, especially high-end restaurants." Residents cannot walk downtown because of the train tracks, but the streets in South Park are wide and lined with sidewalks, making it easier to navigate to nearby schools and parks.

Transfer and magnet options are also available throughout the school district, as well as highly rated private options. IDEA Travis Academy is a kindergarten through Grade 8 school on the edge of South Park. “It’s a charter school; it’s not part of Midland Independent School District,” Burkholder says. “It’s not what we consider a neighborhood school. None of the surrounding people that live in that area go to IDEA Travis until they were selected to be there.”
