Take a visit to The Midlothian Farmers Market

Midlothian has 14 green spaces sprawled through the city, where locals play sports or enjoy the outdoors. The city's history lives at Heritage Park within Newton Cabin, the original homestead of one of the earliest settlers in the area in the late 1800s. Heritage Park is located downtown and next to City Hall, hosting a Farmers Market every Saturday, starting in spring and continuing until autumn. Midlothian Community Park, opened in 2022, is highlighted by a 105-acre multipurpose recreational complex. The complex includes 13 soccer and football fields, an inclusive playground and a splash pad. Mockingbird Nature Park is a 62-acre nature preserve with hiking trails, butterfly gardens and wildflowers.

A rotating calendar of events await

Midlothian offers residents events and festivities that coincide with the changing seasons. The flowers blooming is a sign of spring and Annual Play Day, a family affair with sports festivities, a concert and giveaways. The beginning of December marks the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, which lights up Heritage Park to start the holiday season. Locals who love local tunes flock to the Concert Series in the summer and fall months. Other events include an Easter egg hunt, Independence Day fireworks and a Halloween Trick-or-Treat downtown.

Midlothian Independent School District gets an A-minus grade

Students may be part of the Midlothian Independent School District, earning an A-minus and ranked the #1 best school district in Ellis County by Niche. "Our best hidden gem is Villa Italiana. It's bring your own wine, but it has absolutely the best food," McDonald says. Get to Dallas and Fort Worth in under 40 miles

With no public transportation, Midlothian residents rely on their vehicles to get around. Highway 67 is the primary roadway to Dallas, about 25 miles away. Highway 287 is the main highway leading to Fort Worth, about 30 miles away. Travelers are about 35 miles from Dallas Love Field Airport and 33 miles from DFW International Airport, offering international and domestic flights around the clock.
