Bordered by the Rock River, this village has a degree of separation from the city

At the southern edge of the Quad Cities, Milan is a small village south of the Rock River. “It’s a small, tight-knit community. It’s great for people who want to be part of a smaller town but still have access to everything the Quad Cities offers,” says local Realtor Lyndsi Albalopez with Mel Foster Co. Milan is conveniently located near the major attractions and employers of the Quad Cities, but with its separation by the river, the village feels much quainter and more laid-back than the larger cities to the north. Residents can easily commute throughout the metro area but always have a quiet community to return home to at the end of each day.

More bang for your buck with affordable Quad Cities homes

Homebuyers can find a variety of housing styles in Milan. “They have a wide variety. There are two-story homes, bungalows and ranch-style houses. Many of the homes have basements,” says Albalopez. Most homes in the area are built close together, giving the town a suburban feel. Some streets have sidewalks, offering a walkable commute to nearby parks and restaurants. Most homes have driveways, and some have either built-in or detached garages. Milan is a more affordable area than nearby areas of the Quad Cities. Two-bedroom houses can be found for as low as $55,000, while three-bedroom homes cost between $90,000 and $135,000.

The arena is also home to the Quad City Storm minor league hockey team. Bally’s Casino & Hotel is just 4.5 miles west of town. Visitors can play popular games like roulette, craps and poker.
