There's a mix of multi-family units and 1920s-era homes
Fairfield is an industry- and business-heavy section of Milwaukee’s Northwest Side, with most of its homes concentrated in the southwest section. Over 2,300 people live in a mix of single- and multi-family housing, the latter mainly including the sprawling Berryland Apartments. To find standalone homes, traverse the grid of sidewalk-lined blocks between 35th and 40th streets, where you’ll find mainly Cape Cods, many with predominantly brick or stone facades. These stately materials also cover several of the neighborhood’s bungalows, some of which have stood firm since the 1920s. On occasion, you’ll also encounter Tudors and small ranch-style homes. Fairfield’s most expensive homes can cost up to the high $200,000s, which might land you a four-bedroom brick bungalow over 2,100 square feet. However, some move-in-ready homes (albeit needing some TLC) are valued at around or below $100,000.

Meanwhile, Rufus King International High School is about a seven-minute drive south and attracts over 1,400 students. Classic diner breakfasts and late-night bites close to home
Fairfield offers a short trip to some of the Northwest Side’s scrappy, family-owned businesses and restaurants, offering corned beef, Jamaican jerk-flavored eats and every cuisine in between. Residents need only walk a few blocks south to hit Jo’s Café, a roadside diner where you can grab a seat at the bar and watch a few friendly faces whip up your pancakes and eggs. Drive a few minutes northeast to enjoy lunch, dinner or late-night drinks at The Brick Pub and Grill.
